In furtherance of his commitment to the educational emancipation of his constituency, the member representing Ikono/Ini Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Rep. Emmanuel Ukpong-udo has graciously facilitated the registration of 150 students of Ikono/Ini extraction for the forth coming 2020 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations (UTME).
The federal lawmaker reputed for his magnanimity doled out over a Million Naira to enable the beneficiaries register for the examination in the 3-day registration exercise which took place at the College of Science and Technology, Nung Ukim between Thursday, 23rd and Saturday, 25th January 2020. By this exercise, the burden of funding has been reduced on several parents, families and beneficiaries from the constituency.
Another significant feature of the exercise was the transparent manner in which it was conducted. The Supervisor for Chieftaincy Affairs in Ikono LGA council, Hon. Itoro Okoruen, who witnessed proceedings expressed his utmost satisfaction with the process describing it as independently done and devoid of political sentiments. Ukpong-udo’s gesture, he said, was a timely intervention and an unprecedented feat in the history of the constituency as there were many indigent candidates who could not afford the forms. He thereby lauded Ukpong-udo for his pragmatism and people-centric leadership.
