The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Micro-finance and Enterprise Development, Mr Ime Uwah, has revealed that more than three thousand five hundred Small and Medium Scale Entrepreneurs, have benefited from the Zero Interest Loan, facilitated by the Central Bank of Nigeria and Akwa Ibom State Government.
Mr Uwah made the revelation today in Uyo, when receiveing members of the Dakkada Continuity Group, who were in his office, for a Solidarity Visit.
The Governor’s Aide while thanking the Group for the visit, also lauded them for not only recognizing the lofty contributions of the Governor to the development of the State, but also remaining committed to the reelection bid of Governor Udom Emmanuel.
He explained that the introduction of the Micro-finance and Enterprise Development Department in the Governors Office, is part of efforts by the Governor to further extend the provision of free financial and social services to the poor in the State, a development he noted, has increased the number of beneficiaries of the zero interest loans.
Earlier, some members of the Group who spoke during the visit, reaffirmed their unalloyed support for the second aspiration of Governor Udom Emmanuel.
Coordinator of Group for Mkpat Enin LGA, Mr Linus Aniedi Ukoenang, commended the peaceful disposition of the Governor and his commitment to the development of the State while promising to mobilize support for the Governor’s reelection bid come 2019.
“We are particularly grateful to the Governor for ensuring there’s peace in Akwa Ibom State, even during the electioneering period. We also thank the Governor for his interest in infrastructural development, health care, agriculture and other areas.
“We also thank the Governor for the cottage industries which has so far created employment for our youths. These industries have taken the youths off the streets, bettered their lives and have also reduced youth restiveness in our communities”, he said.
On his part, the Group’s Coordinator for Ika LGA, Mr Saviour Ikpaingang, said, “we’d earlier resolved that we’re for Udom and that decision stands, no matter any intimidation from any quarters. We’ll mobilise support for the Governor across board because in him we see peace, prosperity, and development.”
Highlight of the event was a special prayer session for the Governor’s reelection bid of Gov. Udom and Official Opening of SSA’s new office.
