Two new A220-300 series Airbuses have been added to the fleet of Ibom Airline bringing the total to seven aircraft.

Ten of such giant aircraft are to be added to the fleet to boost the vision of making Ibom Air, the most vibrant airline in the sub-region.

The Akwa Ibom State Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel who announced this on Sunday while receiving the two new aircraft at the Victor Attah International Airport, said that the two new Airbus A220-300 series mark a major milestone in Aviation development in the state.

Governor Emmanuel who further hinted that 10 Airbus A220-300 series will be added to the fleet of Ibom Airline before his tenure elapses in 2023, said “God will help us so we can take over the entire airspace in this region.

“I want to, first of all, express my appreciation to God Almighty, David in the Bible said, if it had not been the Lord who is on our side certainly it would not have been possible.

“We have been favored by God, we have been counseled by the Holy Spirit, we have been strengthening by the Holy Spirit”.

Today marks a major milestone in the history of aviation development not only for Akwa Ibom State but in this country. Never in the history of this nation has a state establish and own a successful airline, but this is marking a milestone in that history.

He thanked the Chief Executive Officer of Ibom Air, Captain Mfon Udom for supporting his vision of aviation development in the state.

The Governor reasoned that having experienced the present state of insecurity and economic instability in the country, it could be seen that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has what it takes to return Nigeria to the glorious days of economic boom.

The Special Guest of Honour at the event, and Governor of Sokoto State, Rt. Hon. Aminu Tambuwal, while unveiling the two new Airbus 220-300 series, congratulated Governor Emmanuel for exceptional performances in the development of the State, especially the aviation industry, adding that all PDP States are setting the pace of development in the entire nation.

“I congratulate you my brother for all the things you have been doing in all facets of life to the people of Akwa Ibom State, in infrastructure you are there, in education you are there, in healthcare you are there, in agriculture you are there, in empowerment you are there, in human capital development you are there”.

Tambuwal who is the Chairman of PDP Governors’ forum, announced that all PDP States Governors are in Akwa Ibom State to deliberate over the state of affairs of the nation.

The Governor of Adamawa, Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Fintiri, in a goodwill message, described the event as unprecedented in history of aviation noting that the aircraft will unlock the economy of the state and the country at large.

In his presentation, the Chief Executive Officer of Ibom Air, Captain Mfon Udom, described the A220-300 series aircraft as the newest and most advanced passenger aircraft in the world, noting that the aircraft has 140 wide seats.

He thanked the Minister of Aviation and Director-General of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority for their support in the realization of the vision.

The Chairman of Akwa Ibom state Technical Committee on Ibom Deep Seaport, Mrs Mfon Usoro has been elected Poineer Chairman of the Governing Board of Nigerian International Maritime Summit ( NIMS ).

She was the pioneer Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, NIMASA .

The Chief Executive Officer, CEO of NIMS, Mr. Emeka Akabogu disclosed this in a statement recently.

While explaining the latest development, Akabogu said that Alhaji Aminu Umar will be the Chairman of the Event’s Advisory Council for the Summit taking place in Lagos from the 5 – 6, October, 2021 .

According to Mr. Akabogu, ” NIMS is promoted by an industry-wide coalition of the Nigeria’s maritime private sector, and it also draws support from key government bodies “.

” It incorporates a strategic conference, a hybrid exhibition and an industry gala to create a first rate promotional business development and policy activation opportunities ” . Mr. Akabogu said .

Mr. Akabogu further stated that Mrs. Mfon Usoro was renowned for her dexterity and cross-cutting experience in shipping areas, including cabotage, finance and ports.

The CEO of NIMS hinted that other members of the Governing Board are: Mr. Greg Ogbeifun and Mrs. Margaret Orakwusi .

He added that a leading ship operator, Alhaji Aminu Umar will be the Chairman of the Advisory Council that will represent diverse sectors of the maritime industry .

Other members of the advisory council also includes: Princess Vicky Haastrup (ports and terminals), Mr Olumide Sofowora SAN (maritime law), Mr John Oguntokun (marine engineers), and Mrs Jean Chiazor-Anishere SAN (women in maritime).

Otunba Kunle Folarin (services), Dr Bolaji Akinola (media), Capt. Tajudeen Alao (master mariners), Alhaji Mahmud Bamanga Tukur (oil trading) and representatives from the freight forwarders, finance and security services also make up the council. He stated.

Many people don’t always know what to do when they fall for social media scam, so today I am sharing with you the possible things that you should do when you realize a page or the person you paid for a service or goods is ghosting you:


1. Screenshot all previous chats across all messaging app (IG and WhatsApp or FB).

2. Write out the Full name and account number of the page or person.

3. Go to the last notification your bank sent you after you made the payment (via mobile app or text) copy out the “TRANSACTION ID NUMBER”.

4. Go to any branch of the scam artist’s bank (the bank the scammer uses), ask to see the CUSTOMER SERVICE in charge of FRAUD.

5. If you can, print out all those chats with the scammer, and submit them.

While you are there, send an email to SCAMMER’S BANK and copy CBN FRAUD DESK ( this will ginger the bank to take it up fast.

What should you expect from this? The culprit/suspect’s account will be PLACED ON HOLD. His BVN will be blocked permanently. No account will ever be opened neither will he be able to transact banking business in that name until he clears himself with the bank.

Meaning he/she cannot transfer or withdraw until they visit the bank, and when they do, the bank will contact the police, and the suspect when proven guilty will sign a waiver allowing the bank to refund your money.
