Since health is wealth and the dividends of a healthy living precedes all essence, access to adequate healthcare services remains a fundamental right that should be enjoyed by every citizen, regardless of their location, be it in rural or urban areas. However, for some rural communities in Akwa Ibom, this basic necessity has remained elusive. Such has been the case for the people of Ikot Nkwo in Ibesikpo Asutan Local Government Area.

For years, residents of Ikot Nkwo have been deprived of accessible quality healthcare services due to limited infrastructure. For years, they have endured long and arduous journeys to reach the nearest health facility, often resulting in delays in treatment and exacerbation of health conditions.

In view of this, the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, His Excellency, Pastor Umo Eno has swung into it immediate intervention by taking a critical step towards rectifying this issue by announcing the construction of a model primary healthcare facility in Ikot Nkwo, Ibesikpo Asutan Local Government Area.

The establishment of the new healthcare facility in Ikot Nkwo marks a monumental step towards addressing the healthcare gap that exists between urban and rural areas in Akwa Ibom. By providing timely and easily accessible healthcare services, saving lives and improving overall health outcomes, the new healthcare project brings to life the meritorious healthcare policies of the Umo Eno administration as captured in the ARISE Agenda.

More so, the construction of this state-of-the-art facility will not only cater for the immediate health needs of the communities but will also serve as a benchmark for future development and expansion of healthcare infrastructure across the State.

In addition, the construction and subsequent operation of the new healthcare facility will generate significant employment opportunities for the local residents ranging from construction workers, healthcare professionals, support staff, and various other related roles. This will go a step further in improving the livelihood of the rural people, boost the local economy, as well as create a sense of ownership and pride.

Indeed, the dedicated efforts to prioritize the health and prosperity of the people demonstrates the Governor’s commitment to public health initiatives. By prioritizing the health and well-being of the rural population, Pastor Umo Eno brings hope and prosperity to the communities and paves the way for a brighter and healthier future for generations to come.
