Elder Edet, who arrived the venue of the event amidst cheers from the enthusiastic and ever cheerful indigenes, said he came with empowerment packages to better the lives of the people, rekindle their hope and appreciate them for their steadfastness and support to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Governor Udom Emmanuel.

In his words: “The time to appreciate you for the unflinching support that you have given the PDP, a platform through which our Governor and other leaders were elected, is nigh. It is true that the reward for good work is more work, especially now that the electioneering is on. So, I bring to you goodwill message of hope and trust from our Governor. There is assurance that his reelection will birth more development and empowerments. For this sake I have come to empower you and I will leave no stone unturned for posterity.”

Elder Edet informed that the decision to empower his people was borne out of the desire to align with the Dakkada Philosophy of Governor Emmanuel, which, according to him, has made so many Akwa Ibom people to rise to their faith of greatness in their respective endeavours.

He explained that the financial support to business owners will sure aid the process of expanding their businesses.

However, it is worthy of note that Elder Edet has been offering scholarship to indigenes of the area who have performed creditably well in their respective educational field of learning, a gesture which he has promised to keep.

In their separate remarks, the Chairman of the Occasion, Prof Lawrence Etim; the political leader of Ibesikpo Asutan, Prince Uwem Ita Etuk; Obong Okon Joseph among others, eulogized Elder Edet for his philanthropic gesture.

They commended the Indigenes who turned up en masse for the event, saying they were optimistic that their overwhelming support will give victory to Governor Emmanuel and all candidates of the PDP in the general elections.

The event, which featured the presentation of cash gifts for business support, educational grants, wrappers and food items, witnessed the defection of over 500 members of the All Progressive Congress (APC) led by their leader, Mr. Aniema Brown.
