Prominent investors under the auspices of Nigeria Sovereign Investment Authority, NSIA toured Ibom Specialist hospital on Sunday as the body brought it’s retreat that held in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State capital to a close.

The tour which was led by the Commissioner of health, Dr. Dominic Ukpong and the Commissioner of Investment, Commerce and Industry, Barr. Prince Ukpong Akpabio was a revealing moment of truth for the investors.

The investors admitted that what they saw on ground was in contrast to what has often been reported in the media.

Dr. Ukpong took time to explain the specification of the hospital, taking them through the different sections and wards of the hospital while adjudging it as the best of it’s kind in West Africa.

Fielding questions from investors regarding the functionality of the hospital, Dr. Ukpong assured his august visitors that the hospital has been in a workable state since 2015 but admitted that more investment was needed to make the hospital attain full functionality.

Speaking further, the health Commissioner revealed that the hospital has 317 bed space, a modular theatre, best laboratory in Africa equipped with cutting edge technology capable giving the very result gotten in reputable hospitals in India.

According to Dr Dominic Ukpong, Ibom Specialist hospital has conducted nothing less twenty neurosurgery cases and plastic surgery, most of the cases which came from the unfortunate incident of Reigners Church collapse in 2017.

Information made available to this reporter is that the administration of Deacon Udom Emmanuel has invested more than seven billion Naira since 2015 and will need additional 11 billion to attain maximal functionality.

The investors also toured the MRO part of the Victor Attah International Airport where the engineer on site told the investors that about five billion Naira would be required to complete the facility which will make the Victor Attah International Airport the only airport in Africa with such specification.

Commissioner for Investment, Commerce and Industry, Barr. Prince Ukpong Akpabio said he was optimistic that the tour will yield result assuring that the Deacon Udom Emmanuel administration will not rest on it’s oars of attracting investments to the state.

The investors expressed satisfaction and commendation on the efforts of the Akwa Ibom State Government and vowed to beginning proceedings on the possibility of partnership.
