Good parental care has been identified as the tonic which every family needs in order to stop or drastically curb the high rate of crime among children.
The Akwa Ibom State Governor, Mr Udom Emmanuel made the assertion on Tuesday while declaring open a workshop with the theme,”Rehabilitation and Reintegration of Ex-Prisoners in Akwa Ibom State:The Role of The Government, The Church and The Community,” organised by Advisory Council On Prerogative of Mercy in collaboration with First Born Global Consultants.
Represented by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Dr Emmanuel Ekuwem, Governor Emmanuel said his administration was working assiduously to harness the potentials and resources of young ones to further the socio-economic development of the state.
He frowned at the numbers of youths in the19 to 30 age bracket who are in prisons awaiting trial or undergoing trial and attributed it to bad parenting and lack of core values.
The State Chief Executive therefore advocated ethical reorientation in the prisons.
