Candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District, Ikono/INI Federal Constituency and Ikono State Constituency, Engr. Chris Ekpenyong, Obong Emmanuel Ukpong-Udo, and Asuquo Nana, on Tuesday, took campaigns and empowerment to Mbiabong Ukan (Ward-4), Nung Ukim (Ward-1), Ibiaku Ntok Okpo (Ward-3) and Iton Odoro (Ward-2) in Ikono Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State.
While campaigning, the candidates urged the people of Ikono Local Government Area to vote PDP and protect their votes for all the party’s candidate in the 2019 elections.
Speaking at Government School, Mbiabong Ukan (Ikono Ward – 4), one of the candidates, Obong Ukpong-Udo, disclosed that the campaign was to enable them reach out to the electorate at the grassroots and to ensure the victory of all PDP candidates in the general elections, maintaining that “the achievements of the PDP administration in all sectors of the economy are unprecedented and enough to campaign with.”
At Methodist School, Nung Ukim (Ikono Ward – 1), where a motorcycle was given to a supporter, Obong Ukpong-Udo, who expressed confidence that Ikono people are wise enough not to be taken for a ride by the opposition party during the general elections, called on the electorate in Ikono Local Government Area to vote en masse for PDP for the continuity of its good works.
Speaking further at Government School, Ibiaku Ntok Okpo (Ikono Ward – 3), where two supporters also got a motorcycle each, Obong Ukpong-Udo maintained that the only way for Ikono, and indeed, Akwa Ibom, to move forward is to vote PDP “and get Alhaji Atiku Abubakar as President, Engr. Chris Ekpenyong as Senator, Obong Emmanuel Ukpong-Udo as House of Representatives member and Asuquo Nana Udo as House of Assembly member.”
The campaign, which ended in grand style at the Civic Centre, Iton Odoro (Ikono Ward – 2), was attended by the who’s who in Ikono including the Director General of Mkpoikana-Abasi Campaign Organization, Barrister Edet Inyangidim; State Legal Adviser of PDP, Barrister Goddy Umoh; Ikono Chapter Chairman of PDP, Barrister Moses Akpan; Ikono Local Government Council Chairman, Mr. Itoro Columba; Chancellor of Ibom Patriots, Chief Bassey Inuaeyen; Arc. Okon Obot; Obonganwan Lovina Umoefah Kelly Okon; Joseph Akpanakpan; Emmanuel Ukpong; Samuel Udoh, among others.
