•••Warns against political thuggery

Secretary to Akwa Ibom State Government, Dr Emmanuel Ekuwem, has called on his kinsmen in Uda Community, Mbo Local Government Area not to be deceived by the antics of the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) but should continue to stand firm in their support to Governor Udom Emmanuel’s re-election and all the candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the forthcoming elections.
Dr Ekuwem made the call over the weekend when he met with Uda Community Youth Development Organisation(UCYDO), the apex youth body in Uda and the people of Ibaka ward including non indigenes residing in Ibaka soliciting for their support to the Governor and all the PDP candidates.
Describing the All Progressives Congress (APC) as a religious movement, the SSG said that the PDP remain the only party that the well meaning sons and daughters of the state and the country at large are comfortable with when it comes to evenly distribution of dividends of democracy and peaceful coexistence of the people.
The State Chief Scribe who also met with the people of Uda ward one stressed the need why his kinsmen should vote for Governor Emmanuel in the forthcoming election.
He listed reasons why the people should support the governor to include the construction of Enwang-Ibaka road, Ibaka tank farm road, resumption of work on the abandoned Etebi-Enwang road, progress on the Ibom Deep Seaport and Industrial City as well as his appointment as the Secretary to the State Government, among others.
Ekuwem who described his boss as a rare gift and an asset to the people of the state, explained that the governor in the last three and half years has created 15 industries and ensure that there is peace in the state as well as transformation and declaration of state of emergency on industrialisation of the state aimed at creating wealth and jobs for the teeming youths.
While expressing optimism that the area will experienced more development in the Completion Agenda of Governor Emmanuel, he advised the youth not to allow themselves to be used as political thugs and also urged the people not to give out their Permanent Voters Card to anyone.
According to the SSG, no amount of intimidation will stop Governor Emmanuel from winning the forthcoming election back to the hilltop mansion as he is the most qualified candidate for the plum job.
He also canvassed support for the People Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar whom he said is the best candidate to pilot Nigeria out of its current economic quagmire and veil of insecurity.
Ekuwem said restructuring and true federalism of the country are some of the reasons why Nigerians are supporting Atiku to clinch the presidency.
He added that the ruling APC has not lived up to the expectation of Nigerians, hence the need for a change.
In their separate remarks, the people pledged their support to Governor Emmanuel and all the PDP candidates in the February 16, and March 2, 2019 elections.
