AKHA HOLDS IT’S HOUSE COMMITTEE ON NDDC INAUGURAL MEETING

“I will work assiduously to achieve our goal” – Chairman

As the Akwa Ibom State House Assembly Committee on Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) holds it’s inaugural meeting today at the Conference Room 3 inside the State Assembly Complex,
Udoudoma, the Chairman of the 11-man Committee, Rt. Hon. Anietie Eka, representing Uyo State Constituency, stated categorically that he will work assiduously to achieve the aim of setting up the Committee.

Welcoming the members to the inaugural meeting, attended by Rt. Hon. Aniekan Uko, Rt. Hon. Usoroh Akpanuso, Rt. Hon. Charity Ido, Rt. Hon. Godwin Ekpo, Hon. Victor Ekwere, Hon. Mfon Idung, he said that he is inspired by the caliber of Members that constitute the Committee, assuring that he will be transparent and urged members to contribute their quota in other to achieve the committee’s aim and objectives.

He disclosed to the members that he has been in contact with stakeholders in the Niger Delta sector and promised to present a blueprint to the committee that will guide it’s functions at the next meeting.

He stressed the need to laiase with all organs concerned without political bias or sentiments to further the development of the state in sync with the State Governor’s completion agenda.

Also speaking, Rt. Hon. Aniekan Uko, representing Ibeskpo Asutan State Constituency, urged the committee to be proactive. He hinted that the work of the committee covers a wide area and that investigations into the causes of abandoned NDDC projects in the state should be carried out in order to effectively checkmate waste and grow the state.

Another member, Rt. Hon. Usoroh Akpanuso, representing Ibeno/Esit Eket State Constituency said members of the committee believe in the leadership of the committee chairman and cautioned that state projects should be properly identified and separated from NDDC projects.

He concluded that the committee should embark on a visit to all NDDC projects in the state while pointing out some grey areas in the commission’s activities in the state.

The meeting came to an end with the chairman dedicating the committee to God.
