Coming less than a month to this year’s gubernatorial elections in Akwa Ibom State, the people of Abak Local Government Area have rejected the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr Nsima Ekere, saying he is unfit and improper to stand election with Governor Udom Emmanuel.
Speaking during the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Campaign Rally in the area on Monday, the Council Chairman, Barr. Imoh Williams, said Abak people will vote massively for Governor Udom Emmanuel during the March 2nd gubernatorial polls, assuring that victory will belong to the PDP at the end of the polls.
The Council Chairman described the Governor’s Wife, Mrs Martha Emmanuel, as their daughter, maintaining Abak people will never compromise their votes.
“Your Excellency, I want to join voices with the crowd and congratulate you for the success we have seem, God has already given you victory come 2nd of March. Your Excellency, I want to assure you you’re not contesting this election with anyone.
“The man contesting election with you is unfit and improper to stand election with you. Your Excellency, you know that the most beautiful woman our first lady is our sister and we cannot compromise our votes. The vote of Abak people is for you. We’re going to return you 100% 2nd of March.”
On his part, the Member representing Abak State Constituency, Rt. (Hon.) Friday Iwok said Abak people were unshaken in their support for Governor Emmanuel, citing the Governor’s developmental strides as one reason he will come out successful at the polls.
“Your Excellency, because of your capacity, developmental strides and stability, Abak will stand by you. The crowd here is the testimony to our unwaivering solidarity for you and I am assuring you as the representative of the people that we will vote for you.”
Erstwhile Commissioner for Information and PDP Candidate for Abak/Etim Ekpo Federal Constituency, Elder Aniekan Umanah, said “Your Excellency, I want to assure you that the people of Abak will return PDP hundred percent.
“The eight nine thousand votes we have here will be all returned to you because you have built us schools and hospitals.”
Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party in the State, Obong Paul Ekpo, also lauded Abak people for remaining steadfast in their support for the PDP and said Governor Udom Emmanuel will not disappoint the people when elected for a second term.
Speaking, Akwa Ibom State Governor, Mr Udom Emmanuel, thanked the people for their support since his emergence, pointing out that the projects cited in the area by his administration will speak for him.
He cited the Fertilizer Blending Plant, Cassava Blending Plant and food security, as some of the gains of his administration and further promised that the fluctuating power supply in the area will be resolved, as he has ordered for a new set of transformer.
“Things have done should speak. If first course is this good how about the main course. The location where we have situated the fertilizer blending plant was housing wild reptiles but today, we have turned it into an investment hub with more industries on cards from the UK and USA.
“We decided to invest in Food security and Abak was not left out because we have given you a Cassava blending plant. This means that if you vote for Atiku and me, more of it is coming. I am aware that the problem you have in Abak in electric power and that is causes by theft of transformer oil and I ordered for a new set. Please, protect them.”
