As one of the strategic measures employed in order to ensure the victory of PDP in Ikono/Ini federal constituency during the forthcoming 2019 general elections, the Federal House of Representatives standard bearer for PDP, Obong Emmanuel Ukpong-udo (Macaire) and Hon Emmanuel Ekpenyong (IRAQ) who is seeking to return for a second term as member representing Ini state constituency in Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, took their campaign train to wards 1, 9 and 10 in Ini Local government Area.
The ambiance in the areas visited was terrific as the people were anxiously waiting, singing and dancing, across the three wards, Ikpe Ward-1, Ukwok Ward-9, Usuk Ukwok Ward-10 all surrendered to PDP as the party’s standard bearers for Ikono/INI Federal Constituency, Obong Emmanuel Ukpong-Udo (Macaire), and INI State Constituency, Hon. Emmanuel Ekpenyong (Iraq) sauntered into the wards.
Some ranking Elders in the wards welcomed the duo and assured of their support for them and PDP. They promised to ensure that they will work for the success of PDP before, during and after the 2019 general elections.
At ward 1 Odoro Ikpe, the people thanked Governor Udom Emmanuel for appointing their son as Secretary into Peacock paints board and placing other sons and daughters of Ini in different positions of leadership.
They further praised the Governor for executing life touching projects in Ini, while pledging that with the evidences on ground, they recognize only one party in Ini LGA.
The PDP chapter Chairman of Ini LGA, Akparawa Emmanuel Umah, presented the two candidates to the people, and solicited for massive support and blog votes for PDP, recounting the many good deeds of the standard bearers and why they deserve votes in the wards
“The two Emmanuels’ you are seeing here are our brothers who have done exceedingly well at their various levels and therefore deserved further support, I want you all not to flare this plea, on that day vote for Atiku, Udom Emmanuel, Chris Ekpeyong, Ukpong-udo and Emmanuel Ekpeyong, all PDP” he solicited.
Mr Anietie, a youth leader in the area, eulogised Obong Emmanuel Ukpong-udo (Macaire) and promised that his election will be flawless because of his philanthropic nature:
“We know how much he has given out even as a private citizen, if he could do that with his personal resources, we are 100 ％ convinced that a practical transformation is coming to Ikono/ Ini when he is entrusted with their mandate” he said
Among those who spoke in all the wards visited were, party stalwarts, political office holders, ward chairmen, councillors/supervisors, women leaders, youth leaders, chapter officers from the areas, youth presidents from the 3 wards visited and other stakeholders.
In response, Obong Ukpong-Udo thanked the people for their show of love and support and promised to carry the people along when voted into office to represent the people of Ikono/Ini. He used the occasion to donate a brand new motorcycle to Mr Samuel Michael, a PDP supporte and member of Macaire Defenders from Ukwok ward 10 who was overwhelmed with joy.
